FUTURE STADIUMS ARE ON PARADE

14 Feb 2012

Northern Parade Junior School recently took part in a mini stadium based challenge aimed at educating Year 6 pupils in a number of different topics including, geography, history, numeracy and literacy. The pupils were visited by Study Centre staff at the start of January and were told of the challenge that they would face: ‘To find a new suitable location for Portsmouth Football Club to play their home games.’ The pupils were then given six weeks in school to work with their teachers and conduct their own research to compile a presentation that would be presented to a panel of judges at Portsmouth Football Club to decide which group had the best proposal.
The standard of work provided by the Northern Parade groups were excellent and the pupils had put in a tremendous amount of hard work, to ensure that their presentation stood out from the rest. Some groups baked cakes in the shape of a new stadium, there were Pompey Board games that would have been sold in the shop. Some groups even designed a new logo for the club that would signify a new era for the club at a new stadium.
John Stedman who was one of the judges said ‘It’s great to see the children putting so much enthusiasm into their presentations, the standard has been extremely high and judging the winner hasn’t been easy.’
However there did have to be one winner and that went to the ‘Blue Thunder’ group who proposed to build the new stadium at Tipner. The group demonstrated excellent presentation skills and also provided well thought out answers to questions proposed to them. We would like to congratulate ‘Blue Thunder’ and all the other teams that took part.
