Jimmy Weir - Work Experience

01 Mar 2012

Jimmy Weir a Year 10 pupil from King Richard School, has been at the Pompey Study Centre for the last week on work experience. He has written a small article about his time here:
When I arrived at the Pompey Study Centre for my first day of work experience, I was a bit nervous about entering a new environment, but as soon as I walked in I felt very relaxed. The first thing I did was to go to Miltoncross School and help coach some Year 7 pupils. On day two I took part in a stadium tour of Fratton Park with a group from the Princes’ Trust, which lasted for 2 hours and then we came back to the Study Centre and I helped in the classroom with the pupils on I-comics. I found it very easy to settle in with the pupils and helped them with their comics. On Wednesday, I met Linvoy Primus as he was promoting the 2012 Paralympic Games at Sainsbury’s Farlington. There was a sit down volley ball match being played outside Sainsbury’s as they are the official sponsors of the 2012 Paralympic Games. On day four, I was involved with helping pupils from Medina Primary School with their movie-making at the Pompey Study Centre. For my last day I will be getting involved in a project called Kick Start Health. My work experience comes to an end today, I have really enjoyed my time here at the Pompey Study Centre and I have learnt a lot.
