Strike day pilot scheme
15 Nov 2011
Most of the schools in Portsmouth have been closed today (Wednesday 30th November) but for 2 lucky school children their education continued thanks to a new initiative being offered by the Pompey Study Centre (PSC). Eddie and Bailey teamed up with James Lang from the Education Team to spend an exciting day doing some very different activities. The boys arrived at the Study Centre at 9 o’clock and kicked off the day by designing their own mug to remember the day. Other activities included using i-comic software, designing a new Pompey kit and a tour of Fratton Park. Bailey Hunt, aged 7 said, ‘I liked going down the players tunnel because I have always wanted to do that!’ Eddie Joseph Parker age 8, ‘The best bit for me was going into the changing rooms and seeing all the kit set out for the game on Saturday. We met Kev ‘the Kitman’ McCormack too.’ Other highlights included meeting former players Linvoy Primus and Alan Knight, who were visiting the Study Centre.
It is hoped that the Education Team at the Pompey Study Centre will be able to offer similar fun activities during most school holidays in the future, for children who like football but don’t always want to play football.
Keep logging on to the Pompey Study Centre website to make sure that you get all the up-to-date information for these courses.
