Get on Board
The Get Onboard project is a highly innovative project that builds on a unique relationship between Portsmouth FC and The Mary Rose Trust. It highlights the parallels between these two icons of Portsmouth and links both cultural and sporting activities to contemporary themes such as healthy lifestyles, respect and peaceful conflict resolution.
At first glance the link may seem a little tenuous but delve deeper and the two are intertwined.
Did you know?
It was an imprisonable offence to play football in the time of Henry VIII—time should not be wasted on such things and young men should be practising their swordsmanship and archery skills? Even so, there is reference to Henry VIII’s own football boots in his personal diaries.
Footballs have been found buried in the walls of Tudor houses so they couldn't be found by the authorities.
